Verzio International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival

Founded in 2004, Verzió is one of the most established film festivals in Hungary, an important meeting place for the documentary film community, civil society, academia, journalists and a diverse audience of documentary film lovers. Held annually in November in Budapest and in seven cities throughout Hungary, Verzió showcases 60-70 films per edition, organizes round table discussions, and has its own industry platform, the Verzió DocPro that includes masterclasses, panel talks, the Verzió DocLab, an international workshop focusing on story development and editing, the Young Critics workshop for emerging documentary critics and a new workshop for festival curators focusing on the decolonization of film festivals. Verzió facilitates year-round screenings and educational workshops in high-schools, and art cinemas and offers a selection of films to film clubs, while also runs a TVOD platform called Verziotheque.
